Adoption training materials
An extensive learning package has been produced to support the implementation of the Adoption and Children Act 2002. Its aim is to ensure all practitioners involved in the adoption process are familiar with the changes brought about by the legislation.
Three versions of the learning materials are available - each based around the same training modules. Some can be accessed or downloaded directly from this site, others need to be ordered using the details supplied:
-
Workbook
Hard copies are currently unavailable. Please either order the CD-ROM below or to download PDF versions of the workbook training modules.
-
Trainer pack
These PowerPoint presentations can be tailored and used by trainers in conjunction with the workbook or other resources to deliver face-to-face training. Click to download the trainer pack.
-
CD-ROM
The CD-ROM mirrors the e-learning. Copies can be ordered from our distributors. Click for information on how to order the CD-ROM.
Please note that the online version of the training materials is no longer available. The CD-ROM version above mirrors the e-learning and can be ordered from our distributors.
The training modules
The learning resources all contain 10 modules focused on a particular aspect of the Adoption and Children Act 2002.
At the start of the CD-ROM version there is a tool which maps job roles to modules, noting which are 'core' or 'recommended' for each role. The workbook provides this information in the introductory module.
You do not need to work through the modules all at once. You may find it easier to take them in bite-sized chunks.
Modules can be completed within an hour. In all cases we strongly recommend that you also refer to the act, guidance and regulations to support your learning. It is unlikely that you will be able to complete all questions without doing so.
